Due to very strict building codes from Byron Bay Shire council, regarding fire ratings & the environment, the owner opted for a natural looking floor to complement the bush setting which led her to PANDOMO ‘stone floor’ in place of timber & ceramic tiles. Concrete Artisans devised a flexible but rigid floor system to go over a yellow tongue particle board substrate built on a steel frame, elevated 5 metres off the ground. This comprised of a 1st layer 6mm cement fibre board sheeting screwed & glued to particle board a 2nd layer of galvanised steel mesh secured to the cement sheeting & then a 4mm coat of Ardex K15 poured over the mesh. The final layer, PANDOMO ‘stone floor’, 6 mm thick, lightly tinted with an earth colour, complements the external lush bush view & the beautiful Tasmanian oak custom built kitchen.
