What is ‘Pandomo’?
Ardex Pandomo is a natural white cement based levelling compound that allows the creation of unique seamless feature floors, utilising natural pigments for artistic and designer surfaces.

What is it made from?
The product is made in Germany. It’s made from a natural white cement, sand & Ardex Adurapid self-levelling  technology. For further information, contact info@concreteartisans.com.au and request the technical data sheet.

Onto what surface can 'Pandomo' go over?
The recommended substrate is sound concrete. However Concrete Artisans has developed a steel mesh system with Ardex K15 for particle board floors, timber boards & CF sheeting. Please contact us for further information.

Can the product be applied over existing tiles?
The product can be applied over existing tiles with the correct preparation & as long as there is no evidence of drummy, cracked tiles & excessive moisture in the tile bed. An inspection of the site would be required. We also have to pre-level over the tiles with 2-3mm of  Ardex K15 to fill in all the grout lines. This gives Pandomo a better base to bond to & stops the shadowing from grout lines showing through the product. 

What’s the thickness range?
The minimum thickness is 5 mm and maximum recommended is 10 mm. For thicker amounts we bulk out the floor with K15 mixed with aggregate & then apply Pandomo over the top.

What type of cleaning and maintenance does it require?

What sort of concrete floor finish is required for laying Pandomo on the new concrete floor?
The suitable concrete floor finish should be steel trowel finish. If the finish is different or too rough it’s necessary to pre-level the floor.

Can it be used externally?
No, Pandomo is only suitable for interior areas.

Can it be applied over underfloor heating?
Only if the heating system such as piped water or electrical is within the concrete slab.

Can it go into bathrooms, including the floors of showers?
The product is dry internal usage only. It is not acceptable for bathrooms or wet areas.

Is it suitable for kitchens?
Yes, Pandomo is suitable for kitchens. For commercial kitchens a full solids epoxy must be used as the sealer.

How do we select colours?
We have a wide range of colours. With a total of forty five colours arranged in eight inspiring collections, we are sure you’ll find the colour you dream of. Most jobs we do range from white to charcoal but we can produce most colours.

Please note that when the Pandomo is polished & sealed you get variations in the tone & marbling effects etc. It doesn’t resemble a painted uniform colour.

How is the product coloured? Does is sit either on top or bottom of the product?
The liquid colour pigments are mixed right through the Pandomo.

Are the colours and the sealer UV stable?
Yes, the sealer we use & the Ardex liquid colour pigments are UV stable & non- yellowing.

What about expansion joints?
If there’s a construction joint in the concrete slab we install Latham Architectural Trims or we saw cut through the Pandomo & fill with a flexible polyurethane joint filler where required.

How many m² can you lay at one time?
Preparation of the area may vary for each particular floor, but in general takes one day of grinding, patching and preparing slab where required, plus priming and masking up walls. Once the set up is ready, with an experienced Pandomo team we can comfortably pour an area of 600 m2 in a few hours. This is done in ONE application at 5 mm thick. On 3rd day we let Pandomo cure. On 4th day & maybe 5th we polish & seal. For small jobs you are still looking at 3-4 days.

If you stop and then continue with the job, will there be a visual join?
We don’t stop & start. We only stop where we’ve installed an angle at a door way or an expansion joint.

Is it best to install Pandomo before or after a renovation / fit out?
We prefer all trades to be completely finished before we install Pandomo. If this is not possible the floor has to be protected with 3mm MDF boards or equivalent.

 What is the slip rating?
The sealing system used conforms to Australian standard (dry) .4 coefficient of friction. R10 is achievable with substitute sealing system.

As far as BASIX (Sustainability Index) is concerned, does Pandomo have any thermal / insulating benefit?
Pandomo has some thermal benefits and it’s not cold to the touch. It hasn’t been rated yet.

Important aspects to consider:
Each floor is unique. As it is defined as a stone floor with a natural look, we can use the same colour for different jobs but the polishing may produce variations on the final result. Particular conditions such as lightning, colour of the walls, and extension of the area can also modify the perception of the colour.
